It is vital that no criminal proceedings against Zardari are carried out. In attribution to his appointment as the President of Pakistan in the 2024 elections. In fact, previous criminal proceedings which were underway also need to be halted. The underlying update behind this latest news is that the President petitioned the court under Section 248(2) of the Constitution. It stated that it was unfeasible to commence or continue any criminal proceedings against the President of the State.

Correspondingly, the President filed for immunity in compliance with this section(282) of the law. He was granted immunity in the Park Lane, Toshakhana. The prosecution side asserted that during his last tenure, as president, Zardari exerted influence on the appropriate authorities to secure the release of loans to his affiliated companies, such as Park Lane. The case of Toshakhana vehicles and fake bank accounts was the other charge underway. The president extend his immunity to both of these.

Accountability court Judge Nasir Javed Rana granted the petition holding off on the president’s criminal proceedings. The written order also entailed that the prosecution side raised no objections and subsequently, the appeal was smoothly approved in court.
