Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has unveiled the ‘Roshan Maishat Bijli Package’, a major government initiative designed to support Pakistan’s industrial and agricultural sectors by offering additional electricity at concessional rates for the next three years.

During a meeting with business leaders, industrialists, and agricultural experts, the prime minister emphasized that this package reflects the government’s long-term vision to revitalize the economy, enhance exports, create employment opportunities, and strengthen national productivity.

Under the new plan, industries and farmers will be able to access additional electricity at Rs22.98 per unit, while industrial consumers will pay below Rs34 per unit and agricultural users below Rs38 per unit. PM Shehbaz clarified that no additional burden will fall on domestic consumers or other sectors as a result of this initiative.

He described the package as a transformative step toward economic revival, highlighting that lower power costs will help businesses expand operations, increase competitiveness, and reduce production expenses. The move is also expected to improve exports and attract new investments in the manufacturing and agriculture sectors.

The prime minister credited Power Minister Sardar Owais Leghari and his team for crafting the plan, noting that last year’s energy package successfully led to 410 gigawatts of additional electricity consumption, contributing to higher industrial output and job creation.

PM Shehbaz expressed optimism about Pakistan’s economic trajectory, saying that the country is moving from crisis to stability through determination, collaboration, and policy reforms. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to achieving economic independence and sustainable growth by empowering key sectors and ensuring affordable energy access.
