Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will inaugurate 1320 MW Shanghai Electric Thar and 330 MW Thal Nova Thar projects at Tharparkar today
These coal-fired projects, which required a total direct investment of $3.53 billion, will produce 11.24 billion units of affordable power annually.
The current power production from Thar coal will expand to 3300 MW with the start of these projects.
On the orders of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the completion of these projects, which had been placed on hold for the previous four years, was given top priority.
