According to official sources, the national flag carrier has reduced rates for students who want to travel between Pakistan and China from the current 22% to 27%.

PIA now runs two flights per week on the Islamabad-Beijing-Islamabad and Islamabad-Chengdu-Islamabad routes, respectively, on Sunday and Wednesday. The new fare may be used by passengers from other countries, including Pakistan, who are traveling to China to enroll in educational institutes there.

The Covid-19 travel restrictions prevented many Pakistani students studying in Chinese institutions from traveling back to their home countries. They want to return to China to enroll in offline classes once all travel restrictions have been lifted, as the Chinese government has given them permission to do so.

A Pakistani student named Tehsin Ahmad claimed that the new, lower fare would make it much easier for Pakistani students who want to return and continue their offline studies.

He claimed that many students might now take advantage of the discounted flights offered and travel back to their respective universities in China.
