Outstanding Olympiad Performance
At the absolute operational center of this achievement is the exceptional performance of the national delegation during the week-long event from August 2 to 8. Muhammad Ali, a student from Government College University (GCU) in Lahore, led the team by securing the gold medal. Meanwhile, Muhammad Usman from F.G. Sir Syed College in Rawalpindi and Seerat Fatima from Nixor College in Karachi both earned silver medals. Syed Shuja Haider of Sundar STEM School in Lahore also notably represented the country at the rigorous international academic competition.
Rigorous Selection and Institutional Support
The triumphant team was carefully vetted and meticulously trained under a specialized national framework. The students were initially selected through the Pakistan Nuclear Science Olympiad (PANSO), a competitive initiative launched by the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) to identify and nurture young scientific prodigies. Following their selection, the cohort underwent intensive mentoring and specialized academic training by distinguished faculty members at the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS), ensuring they were fully prepared for the demanding standards of the international event.
Future International Hosting Rights
Beyond the immediate medal victories, the event in Jeddah culminated in another major diplomatic and scientific win for the nation. It was officially announced that Pakistan has been selected to host the 4th International Nuclear Science Olympiad in 2027. This upcoming hosting opportunity is expected to further promote regional scientific collaboration, boost domestic interest in nuclear technology, and showcase Pakistan’s commitment to advancing scientific excellence among its youth.
