Pakistan’s wrestling star Mohammad Gulzar has earned national recognition after securing a bronze medal in the men’s 97kg freestyle wrestling event at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. His impressive performance not only added to Pakistan’s medal tally but also highlighted the country’s growing presence in international wrestling.

Gulzar captured the bronze after a thrilling 5-4 victory over Turkey’s Rifat E. Gidak, winning the match by fall. His journey to the podium included a strong win in the repechage round, where he defeated Afghanistan’s Iqbal Ahmed to set up the medal clash. His determination, technique, and resilience were evident throughout the competition.

Following his win, Gulzar expressed deep gratitude and dedicated his medal to the Pakistan Armed Forces and the martyrs of the country. He described his achievement as a tribute to the homeland, thanking the nation for its support and prayers. His emotional message quickly gained appreciation from fans, athletes, and officials.

Gulzar’s success comes on the back of a rigorous three-month training camp in Gujranwala, arranged by the Pakistan Wrestling Federation. Under the supervision of experienced coaches, including Inam Butt, the camp played a key role in enhancing the athletes’ physical and technical skills. The federation praised Gulzar’s hard work, describing his performance as a source of pride for Pakistan.

With Gulzar’s bronze, Pakistan’s medal tally at the Games rose to five, including gold from Arshad Nadeem, a silver by Yasir Sultan, and additional bronze medals by Fatima Zahra and Qudratullah.

Mohammad Gulzar’s achievement stands as a powerful reminder of Pakistan’s wrestling talent and the potential of its athletes to shine on global platforms. His victory is expected to inspire young wrestlers across the country to pursue excellence and represent Pakistan with pride in future international events.
