Pakistan’s youth netball team delivered a remarkable performance to become the champions of the Asian Youth Netball Championship 2025, held in South Korea. The final match, played on Friday at the Jeonju Hwasan Gymnasium, saw Pakistan thrash the Maldives 60-35, capping off a tournament in which they remained unbeaten throughout.
The Green Shirts demonstrated exceptional teamwork, strategy, and consistency across all their matches, earning praise from netball officials and fans alike.
The championship ran from June 27 to July 4, with eleven teams competing, divided into two groups:
- Group A: Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, India
- Group B: Chinese Taipei, Japan, Korea, Pakistan, Maldives, Saudi Arabia
Pakistan’s journey to the top was marked by standout performances:
- Quarter-Final: Defeated Maldives 49-39
- Semi-Final: Outclassed Japan 64-39
- Final: Crushed Maldives again with a dominant 60-35 win
The team’s efforts were lauded by the leadership of the Pakistan Netball Federation. Chairman Mudassir Arian, President Sameen Malik, and Secretary General Muhammad Riaz extended their heartfelt congratulations, calling it a “historic moment for youth sports in Pakistan.”
