Lahore – 30 April 2025:
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially released the full schedule for the upcoming five-match T20I series between Pakistan and Bangladesh, marking the return of international cricket to Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium after a gap of 17 years.
As per the schedule, the series will kick off with two matches in Faisalabad on May 25 and May 27, 2025, followed by the final three T20Is at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on May 30, June 1, and June 3.
Modified Format Ahead of T20 World Cup:
Originally, the bilateral tour included three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three T20Is. However, with the T20 World Cup 2025 approaching, both cricket boards mutually agreed to drop the ODIs and instead add two extra T20 matches, making it a five-match series.
This strategic decision aims to provide both teams with ample T20 preparation and allow selectors to finalize their squads and strategies ahead of the mega tournament.
Historic Return to Faisalabad:
The return of international cricket to Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, is particularly significant. The venue last hosted a major international match in 2008, making this a momentous occasion for local fans and the city itself.
“We are excited to bring international cricket back to Faisalabad and offer local fans a chance to witness high-quality action,” a PCB spokesperson said.
