Minister of State for Petroleum Musadik Malik said that Pakistan will import 20,000 tons of additional gas from Azerbaijan during the next 2 months to meet its demand in the country.

The Russian Petroleum Minister will visit Pakistan next month to negotiate a deal for the import of Russian crude oil, the minister of foreign affairs announced in a statement.

The state minister was confident that Russia will supply discounted crude oil to Pakistan.

According to him, the government is working on the TAPI gas pipeline project to import 1300 billion MF of gas from Azerbaijan each year to address the country’s gas shortage.

Malik had before stated that Russia will give Pakistan a discount on the price of its crude oil.

Musadiq Malik stated during a press briefing in Islamabad on Friday that Russian authorities had clarified that they will offer Pakistan discounted crude oil.

“We are taking talks [with Russia on crude oil] forward,” the State for Petroleum Musadik Malik continued, adding that Russia had eight different types of crude oil of which two could be used by refineries in Pakistan.

He continued by stating that Pakistan was also creating a framework for an LNG cargo arrangement with Azerbaijan.
