In the recently unveiled World Internet Development Report 2023 at the World Internet Conference in Wuzhen, Zhejiang province, Pakistan secured the 45th position out of 52 countries with a score of 41.82 on the World Internet Development Index.
The index encompasses six key metrics: information technology infrastructure, digital technology and innovation capability, digital economy, digital government, cyber security, and cyberspace international management. Pakistan ranks 47th, 43rd, 42nd, 45th, 45th, and 40th in these respective indicators.
Notably, this marks the first inclusion of Pakistan in the assessment for the Internet development blue paper, alongside four other countries, as reported by China Economic Net.
According to the report, the top performers in the index are the United States, China, Singapore, the Netherlands, and South Korea. Compiled annually by the Chinese Academy of Cyberspace Studies since 2017, the World Internet Development Report aims to analyze global Internet development trends, highlighting achievements and challenges for future progress.
