Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stated that the technology sector offers vast opportunities for foreign investors, and that foreign tech companies will be aided in all aspects of investment and expansion.

The Prime Minister stated that the government intends to increase Pakistan’s IT exports from 1.5 billion to 15 billion dollars in the coming year, and that close cooperation with Huawei will result in the provision of training to Pakistan’s youth through various means, including the establishment of a university.

He emphasised that investments in the tech sector would increase employment and skill development for Pakistani youth, particularly women, as the government aims to increase the number of women working in the e-commerce sector by providing them with a conducive environment in which to get trained and raise capital. He also emphasised the need of completing the process of organizing collaborative efforts within a week, as well as the government’s resolve to leave no stone unturned in order to meet the stated goals.

Huawei’s long association with Pakistan and investments in the telecom industry have delighted the Prime Minister.
