Sharjeel Memon, the Sindh government’s point person for flood relief, stated on Sunday that the province’s relief and recovery efforts are well underway.
“Flood help will continue until all affected persons are able to receive rehabilitation,” he stated.
In a statement on Sunday, he insisted that flood victims were going back to their houses, adding that 7207 flood victims had already done so. When they left the relief camps, he claimed that the district administrations had provided them with a means of transport and ration bags.
According to the provincial information minister, ration bags have been distributed to as many as 43,259 additional flood-affected families over the past 24 hours.
According to Sharjeel Mamon, 11,93,901 families have received ration bags overall to date. In an early announcement, the province minister reported that 8,422 people had been hurt and 759 people had died as a result of flash floods and rain. He said that 4,34,238 animals died in the natural disaster. He added that 73,25,575 persons had been relocated, while 22,89,194 households had been impacted.
The Sindh government has constituted survey committees to assess the damages caused by heavy rains and subsequent floods across the province. The committees have been formed at the Union Council level. The committees would have representatives from district administration, Pakistan Army and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), minister earlier said.
