Motorcyclists having open transfer letters have come to the attention of the Islamabad Capital Territory Police (ICTP), who have requested that they transfer the letters to their names.

The agency instructed these bike owners to choose biometric registration by September 1, 2022 in an official notification released earlier today. The authorities will take strong measures if there is non-compliance.

The decision aims to include as many motorcycles as possible in the database of the government. Recently, some street crimes in Islamabad have utilized unregistered or open-letter-based motorcycles.

Their non-inclusion in the database has allowed the perpetrators to get away with their crimes. Registration of bikes will allow the authorities to keep track of them, which will aid in containing criminal activity in the federal capital.

ICTP also started an operation against unregistered vehicles in Islamabad to discourage their use. It has also updated its e-challan system to ensure discipline on the roads.
