All government and private schools in Islamabad and Rawalpindi will reopen tomorrow (Thursday) after being closed for three days due to protests organized by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi confirmed the reopening following a successful operation to clear protestors from key areas. He also announced that mobile internet services would be restored by Wednesday morning.
The closure, which began on Saturday in response to PTI’s November 24 protest, had sparked concerns among parents about the impact on children’s education. Many expressed frustration over setbacks to their children’s academic progress, with online classes unable to fully substitute in-person education, especially for younger students.
By Wednesday, life in the twin cities began returning to normal as authorities cleared all road blockages. Islamabad’s Deputy Commissioner, Irfan Memon, ordered the reopening of all closed routes and directed cleanup operations at key intersections.
