Govt May Launch Online Portal for Petrol Subsidy Complaints Soon

The federal government has decided to launch an online portal to address vehicle registration and token payment complaints under the Prime Minister's Petrol Relief Scheme. Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema said the fuel relief scheme was progressing successfully across the country, while chairing a review meeting attended by ministers Attaullah Tarar, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and provincial representatives.

Scheme Progress So Far

The Ministry of IT and the Pakistan Digital Authority (PDA) briefed the meeting that more than five million people had registered under the scheme, with fuel tokens being generated successfully and registration issues at most petrol pumps already resolved.

The Rickshaw and Loader Problem

The meeting reviewed registration difficulties faced by some rickshaw and loader owners, particularly those whose vehicles weren't registered with provincial Excise Departments. Provincial representatives said rickshaw registration had already begun, meaning eligible owners can benefit once their vehicles are registered.

The Portal Directive

Cheema directed authorities to promptly address these registration issues and asked the PDA to include vehicle registration and token payment complaints in a dedicated portal, to be made operational at the earliest. The PDA said it would work to launch the portal as soon as possible.

Payments Status

Most payments to petrol pumps had already been made, with State Bank representatives saying pending payment issues were expected to be resolved within a day or two.
