Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar emphasized the significance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) during his visit to Beijing for the 3rd Belt and Road Forum. He described CPEC as more than just an economic corridor; it represents the deep strategic trust between Pakistan and China.
PM Kakar highlighted how CPEC has acted as a catalyst for economic growth, poverty reduction, and job creation. Since its launch in 2015 during President Xi Jinping’s historic visit to Pakistan, the project has led to the construction of 800 kilometers of roads, the generation of 8,000 megawatts of electricity, and the creation of 200,000 job opportunities.
He expressed his confidence that CPEC, as a driver of socio-economic progress and sustainable development, will usher in a new era of regional prosperity and development. PM Kakar suggested that the next phase of CPEC should focus on deeper economic integration to harness the development potential for the mutual benefit of both nations.
As a native of Balochistan, he emphasized the untapped potential in the region and expressed the intention to collaborate with China to unlock opportunities for progress and regional connectivity in Gwadar.
Before his address to Chinese think tanks, PM Kakar had a productive meeting with Ren Libo, President of the Grandview Institution. They discussed shared goals and visions for the future and aimed to strengthen the strong bond between Pakistan and China.
