On Thursday, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Qazi Faez Isa punished a lawyer for squandering the court’s time.

According to reports, the Chief Justice of Pakistan fined a lawyer Rs5,000 for wasting the Supreme Court’s time on a property matter.

The top judge stated that the lawyer squandered the Supreme Court’s time rather than focused on the merits of the cases and tried to mislead the court.

“The court has lost trust in you,” CJP Justice Qazi Faez Isa told the lawyer, slapping a Rs5,000 fine.

The top judge advised presenting a receipt after submitting the fine amount to any charitable group.

Separately, at a meeting with bar councils on Wednesday, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Isa promised to develop a “comprehensive policy” on the resolution of pending cases and the composition of benches.

Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) Chairman Hassan Raza Pasha announced the development during a news conference following a meeting with CJP Isa Senior Puisne Judge Justice Sardar Tariq Masood.

The Supreme Court judges had summoned delegates from the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) and the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) to examine matters such as bench creation, outstanding cases, speedy administration of justice, and case fixing and hearing.
