'Beaten with iron rods': 12-year-old house help 'tortured to death' in Sargoha

In the heart-wrenching incident reported by local police, a 12-year-old house help named Ayesha was allegedly tortured to death by her employers in Village 84 South, a suburb of Sargodha. The accused, identified as Jawad Bhatti, a local feudal, and his wife, reportedly used iron rods and sticks to inflict severe harm on the young girl.

Tragically, Ayesha’s family was informed by the suspects that their daughter had suffered an accident, concealing the true nature of the horrifying incident. Upon reaching the location, the family discovered that Ayesha had been brutally tortured and killed. Disturbingly, Bhatti and his wife had fled the scene.

The grieving family lodged a complaint, leading to the registration of a murder case against Jawad Bhatti and his wife at the Laksian Police Station. A manhunt is currently underway to apprehend the suspects.

Jawad Bhatti, known as a toll plaza contractor, is the subject of a detailed police investigation. The victim’s body has been transferred to a hospital for post-mortem examination.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has taken immediate notice of the incident, directing the inspector-general of police to provide a comprehensive report. Stressing the importance of a thorough investigation, she called for swift justice, firmly stating that violence has no place in Punjab.

The article sheds light on the vulnerability of child domestic workers to abuse, exploitation, and trafficking. Often deprived of education and forced to work long hours without breaks, these children face dire circumstances. The incident underscores the urgent need for measures to protect such vulnerable members of society and ensure the swift prosecution of those responsible for such heinous acts.
