The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have begun informal discussions to resolve the Asia Cup 2025 trophy controversy. The issue arose when India’s Suryakumar Yadav-led team refused to receive the winners’ trophy and medals from ACC President and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi after the final against Pakistan.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that ICC officials facilitated a separate meeting with Naqvi on the sidelines of ICC sessions in Dubai. “It was good to start the negotiation process. The ice has been broken,” Saikia said, adding that both sides are now exploring options for an amicable solution.
The trophy remains under ACC custody in Dubai and cannot be moved without Naqvi’s authorization. Reports suggest a neutral ceremony may be arranged soon to formally hand over the trophy, signaling progress toward ending the dispute between the cricket boards.
