On Defence Day, General Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, declared that the armed forces are committed to maintaining the motherland’s defence.

Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir remarked in a message on Defence Day, “Defence Day is an important milestone in our national and military history; this day reminds us of the eternal sacrifices of our armed forces.”

General Asim Munir emphasised the significance of the 1965 war, stating that it was the first time our armed forces blocked the enemy’s assault and demonstrated a smaller but righteous force to a numerically greater opponent with professionalism, dedication, and faith.

General Munir appreciated the Pakistan Army for its discipline, professionalism, and world-class status. He stated that the Pakistan Army is devoted to defending the nation.

He highlighted the significance of imitating the sacrifices of martyrs and the valour of our warriors. He stressed the solemnity and devotion associated with martyrs’ sacrifices.

General Asim Munir also emphasised the value of trust and solidarity between the Pakistan Army and the civilians. He acknowledged recent attempts by certain factions to sever the bond between the people and the army but praised Pakistan’s military services for their patience and wisdom in dealing with these problems.

He stated that the Pakistan Army’s struggle against terrorism is more than only military operations, but also a symbol of the army’s and the nation’s togetherness. He emphasised that the army is the protector of the people’s hopes and security and that a strong economy is necessary for a strong defence.

He expressed hope that via mutual cooperation, Pakistan can make economic progress and cement its road to growth.
