Pakistan today celebrates the death anniversary of Arfa Karim Randhawa, the country’s youngest computer prodigy, whose achievements are still inspiring millions.
Arfa was the youngest Microsoft Certified Professional in the world in 2004, at age nine, a title she held until 2008. In 2005 she was awarded the prestigious President’s Pride of Performance Award for her extraordinary talents, and her dedication to technology.
Arfa brought Pakistan’s youth to the international forums and represented the country at various forums on a global platform. Microsoft founder Bill Gates noticed her brilliance and invited her to visit the company’s headquarters in the US. Sadly, Arfa died on January 14, 2012, after a cardiac arrest, at the age of 16. But her legacy lives on, to remind us all of the power of talent and determination.
