Inspector General (IG) Motorways Police Dr. Kaleem Imam said that the Motorways Police utilizes innovative technologies on the motorways and highways to mitigate and reduce the risk of accidents.
The Inspector General furthermore added that the National Motorways and Highways Policy (NMHP) plays a crucial role in reducing the ratio of road accidents nationwide and invoking awareness among the masses regarding the importance of road safety and adherence to traffic rules.
Dr. Kaleem disclosed that following the new technologies, NHMP also launched two mobile apps named “Hamsafar and Mashwara” to facilitate the users and provide the details of the road conditions in real-time, blockage alerts, alternative routes, and an option for distressed users to call for help.
Earlier, the Motorways began using drone technology to bring traffic violators up to the task by generating records of 24/7 movement on the roads.
