Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is making “concerted efforts” to increase the supply of vaccines as well as expand the country’s vaccination capacity.
The government opened vaccinations based on age in descending order due to finite availability of vaccines globally, as well as vaccination capacity in the country.
The country started its vaccination campaign in February with doses donated by the government of China. The campaign started with frontline healthcare workers and then inoculation of senior citizens in the second phase. After vaccination of age 60 or above NCOC head Asad Umar encourages people aged 50 plus to register for vaccination starting March 30.
The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) 26 April decided to open registration of around 12 million people in the age group of 40 to 50 years and allowed walk-in vaccination facility for citizens over 50. Pakistan started the vaccination against COVID-19 on Saturday for the people from 30 to 39 years of age
The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) has opened up walk-in coronavirus vaccinations for people aged 30 and above and teachers over 18 years old from today (Saturday).
NCOC chief Asad Umar said on Sunday that Pakistan crossed the 300,000 Covid-19 vaccination mark in a single day, in a first since the inoculation drive began.
The single-day vaccination tally has now taken the total number of country’s vaccinations to over 7 million. In a tweet, Umar stated that a total of 383,000, people were vaccinated in Pakistan on Saturday
