Gold Climbs Another Rs4,600 Per Tola in Pakistan as Global Rally Continues
Gold prices in Pakistan pushed higher again on Wednesday, tracking continued gains in the international market. In the local market, the price of gold per tola reached Rs433,836 after adding Rs4,600 during the day’s trading.
The rise extended across other measures too. Ten-gram gold climbed to Rs371,944 after gaining Rs3,944, according to rates shared by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA).
Two Days of Consecutive Sharp Gains
Wednesday’s jump comes right on the heels of an equally strong move a day earlier. On Tuesday, gold price per tola had reached Rs429,236 after climbing Rs4,700 during that session. Taken together, the two days have added roughly Rs9,300 per tola in gold prices in Pakistan within just 48 hours, a significant move by any standard for a market that typically sees more gradual daily fluctuations.
International Prices Keep Climbing
The domestic price action continues to closely track what’s happening internationally. The global rate of gold rose by $46 to reach $4,114 per ounce, with a local premium of $20 added on top of that figure. This marks yet another leg higher in what has been a fairly sustained upward run for gold over the past several sessions, driven largely by continued global uncertainty tied to the ongoing US-Iran conflict.
As has been the pattern throughout this period of heightened Middle East tensions, gold continues to benefit from its traditional role as a safe-haven asset. When geopolitical risk stays elevated, and financial markets remain uncertain about how the conflict might evolve, investors tend to keep gravitating toward gold as a reliable store of value, a dynamic that’s been playing out consistently over the past couple of trading sessions.
Silver Edges Higher Too
Silver also posted gains on Wednesday, albeit more modest ones compared to gold’s sharp climb. The price of silver increased by Rs7 to reach Rs6,403 per tola, a smaller but still positive move that suggests the broader precious metals complex continues to see support from the same underlying market conditions currently driving gold higher.
What This Means for Pakistani Households
For everyday consumers in Pakistan, two consecutive days of sharp gold price increases carry real practical weight. Gold remains deeply woven into Pakistani cultural and financial life, whether through wedding jewellery, traditional savings practices, or as a hedge against currency depreciation and inflation. A combined increase of over Rs9,000 per tola across two trading days can noticeably affect household budgeting decisions, particularly for families planning weddings or other occasions where gold purchases are customary.
The pace of these increases also creates a tricky dynamic for buyers and sellers navigating the local bullion market. Rapid, back-to-back price surges tend to encourage some consumers to delay planned purchases in the hope that prices might eventually ease, while others may feel pressure to buy sooner rather than risk paying even more if the upward trend continues.
Part of a Broader Pattern of Market Volatility
This continued gold rally fits into a wider pattern of financial market turbulence currently playing out across Pakistan, largely as a downstream effect of the escalating conflict in the Middle East. Alongside gold’s steady climb, Pakistan has also seen recent volatility in oil prices, the rupee-dollar exchange rate, and the stock market, all reacting to the same underlying geopolitical uncertainty.
Looking Ahead
Whether gold continues its upward trajectory in the days ahead will depend heavily on how the US-Iran conflict develops from here. Given how closely Wednesday’s local price movement mirrored the international market’s gains, any further escalation, or conversely any signs of de-escalation, abroad will likely continue to show up quickly in Pakistan’s domestic gold and silver rates, keeping consumers, jewellers, and investors closely tuned to both the geopolitical headlines and the daily APGJSA bullion rate updates in the days to come.
