Dismissing reports that she is blocking meetings between Imran Khan and party leaders, Aleema Khan on Tuesday said such claims were baseless, questioning how she could prevent meetings when she herself has been unable to see her brother.
Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, she said there is growing demand across Pakistan — and internationally — for Imran Khan’s release. She expressed hope that changing global circumstances could lead to his release, adding that public pressure may also play a role.
Aleema said the family was waiting to learn whether they would be allowed to meet him, but feared permission would not be granted. She alleged that authorities were trying to conceal his health condition and the treatment he has received.
She further stated that a request had been made to allow Imran Khan’s medical treatment at Shifa International Hospital, adding that the family would prioritise his proper medical care over meetings.
According to her, the Chief Justice had forwarded the request for medical treatment to the chief commissioner, who operates under Mohsin Naqvi.
