Pakistan and Iran reiterated their resolve to expand cooperation across multiple sectors during a key meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Dr Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, on Tuesday.

According to the Foreign Office, Dar received Larijani at his office as part of the Iranian official’s two-day visit to Pakistan. Both sides reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral ties and agreed to intensify collaboration on regional and global issues of shared concern.

The Embassy of Iran in Islamabad confirmed Larijani’s arrival, noting that he would engage with Pakistan’s political and military-security leadership. The visit is being viewed as an important step in strengthening strategic communication between the two neighbouring states.

Before departing for Pakistan, Larijani described Pakistan as a “friend and brotherly nation,” recalling the solidarity shown by the Pakistani people during the 12-day war imposed on Iran by external forces. He stressed that both countries hold significant roles in safeguarding regional stability and are committed to deepening their fraternal relationship.

Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, termed Larijani’s visit “unprecedented,” calling it a historic milestone that would elevate Pakistan–Iran ties into a new strategic phase. He stated that, amid rapidly shifting geopolitical dynamics, enhancing bilateral coordination had become more essential than ever.

The visit is expected to pave the way for enhanced security cooperation, economic engagement, and broader diplomatic alignment between the two nations.
