Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has asserted that Pakistan has secured a prominent place on the global stage, pointing to strengthened diplomacy, regional development, and peace-building initiatives.

Speaking at the inauguration of a Daanish Schools facility in Chitral, Sharif commended former US President Donald Trump for his role in brokering a ceasefire between Pakistan and India in May—calling it a key moment in improving Pakistan’s international posture.

The prime minister praised the armed forces for their sacrifices and professionalism under Asim Munir and acknowledged the patriotic commitment of people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially Chitral, who, he said, overcame educational disadvantage with resolve.

Sharif outlined a development agenda aimed at bridging regional disparities, stating that federal resources would now focus on remote areas—including Chitral, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, and Balochistan—to match the progress seen in Punjab and Sindh.

He described the Daanish school project as a “gift” from the federal government to Chitral’s youth and pledged that its standards would equal those of the elite Aitchison College in Lahore, offering fully free boarding, lodging, and education for talented but underprivileged children.

Additional infrastructure commitments were outlined: construction of the Daanish school will begin in December and be operational next year, a university and modern hospital to be developed in Upper Chitral, completion of the 153-kilometer Chitral-Shandur road by December next year, and a gas plant project to be completed.
