Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has officially launched a Rs100 billion flood rehabilitation drive aimed at supporting families affected by recent monsoon floods across the province. The inauguration ceremony took place in Dipalpur, Okara district, where CM Maryam distributed the first relief cheques and rehabilitation cards to flood-hit families.

She emphasized that this initiative is one of the largest rehabilitation programs in Punjab’s history, designed to help people rebuild their homes, livelihoods, and communities. The chief minister announced that the program will provide financial assistance to 15 flood-affected districts, including Okara, Jhang, Multan, Bahawalpur, Nankana Sahib, Muzaffargarh, Sahiwal, Lodhran, Bahawalnagar, Sargodha, Toba Tek Singh, Vehari, Kasur, Narowal, and Gujranwala.

CM Maryam highlighted that 70% of the loss-assessment survey has already been completed. The initiative is being funded entirely through Punjab’s own resources, with no external or international aid sought. She explained that this approach was chosen to “preserve the dignity and self-respect” of the people, reaffirming her government’s commitment to transparency and zero tolerance for corruption in fund distribution.

The CM also announced the establishment of special flood rehabilitation camps in all affected districts. These camps will oversee the distribution of compensation and monitor progress to ensure that every eligible family receives timely assistance.

Maryam Nawaz further stated that the government’s goal is not only to provide financial relief but also to restore infrastructure, agriculture, and essential services disrupted by the floods. She assured that the Punjab government stands shoulder-to-shoulder with every affected family and will continue to monitor the rehabilitation process until full recovery is achieved.
