Islamabad – 30 April 2025:
The Directorate General of Customs Valuation in Pakistan has officially announced the updated customs values for the newly released iPhone 16 series, including the premium iPhone 16 Pro Max variants, as part of Valuation Ruling No. 1999/2025. This move follows requests from several customs collectorates, including those at Customs Airport, to update the official customs table to reflect the latest iPhone models.

The revised customs values aim to streamline the assessment of import duties and facilitate smoother import processes for Apple’s new iPhone variants, which have seen increased demand both domestically and internationally.

Consultations and Stakeholder Discussions:

The update to the customs values came after a series of consultative meetings between customs authorities and stakeholders in the industry. The discussions focused on the need to accurately reflect the latest market prices of Apple’s new releases while ensuring consistency with the valuation of older models in the product line.

Officials highlighted that the revised customs valuations are an essential step in keeping the customs procedures clear and updated, given the growing number of premium electronic imports into Pakistan.

Updated Customs Values for iPhone 16 Pro Max:

According to the new valuation ruling, the iPhone 16 Pro Max models have been assessed as follows:

  • iPhone 16 Pro Max (512GB): Valued at $1,278 (~Rs 359,501)
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max (1TB): Valued at $1,469 (~Rs 413,229)

The new valuation affects a total of 187 Apple phone variants, further solidifying the importance of keeping the customs valuations in sync with the evolving product catalog from tech giants like Apple.

Impact on Import Duties and Retail Prices:

The revised valuation is expected to have a significant impact on import duties, which may, in turn, affect the retail prices of the latest iPhone 16 models in Pakistan. With the Eid and summer shopping season approaching, the demand for high-end smartphones like the iPhone is expected to rise, making it crucial to ensure the import duties are accurately assessed.

Customs authorities have also been directed to ensure strict compliance with the updated valuation, with any discrepancies in implementation to be immediately reported to the Directorate for review.
