Pakistan open to neutral, credible probe into Pahalgam incident: PM Shehbaz

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday strongly reiterated Pakistan’s unequivocal condemnation of terrorism in all its forms, emphasizing the country’s readiness to participate in any neutral, transparent, and credible investigation into the Pahalgam incident.

Speaking at the passing-out parade of cadets at the Pakistan Military Academy, the prime minister criticized India’s immediate and baseless allegations following the Pahalgam attack, urging an end to the “blame game” without verifiable evidence.

Addressing national concerns over water security, PM Shehbaz made it clear that Pakistan views water as a critical national interest and the lifeline for its 240 million citizens. He issued a stern warning that any attempt to halt, divert, or diminish Pakistan’s share under the Indus Waters Treaty would be met with “full force and might,” leaving no room for miscalculation.

Highlighting Pakistan’s defense capabilities, he recalled the nation’s firm response to India’s reckless incursion on February 26, 2019, asserting that Pakistan’s armed forces are fully prepared to safeguard the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. “This nation of 240 million stands united behind our brave forces, committed to defending every inch of the motherland,” he said.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s preference for peace, PM Shehbaz stressed that it should not be mistaken for weakness. “We will never compromise on the dignity and security of Pakistan,” he declared, adding that Pakistan remains committed to promoting peace and security on the global stage, rooted in the belief of human unity.

The prime minister also invoked the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who had called Kashmir Pakistan’s “jugular vein,” reiterating Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people in their struggle for self-determination as recognized by United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.
