The 17th death anniversary of Pakistan’s former Prime Minister, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, is being observed today with solemnity and reverence.

A large number of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) workers and leaders from across the country, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir, have gathered at her mausoleum in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh near Naudero to pay tribute to her legacy.

To ensure public safety and convenience, authorities have tightened security measures and implemented a comprehensive traffic management plan.

The main ceremony is scheduled for this afternoon at the mausoleum, where President Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari are expected to address the gathering. The Sindh government has also declared a public holiday to mark the occasion.

In his message, President Asif Ali Zardari urged the nation to draw inspiration from Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s vision for a peaceful, progressive, and democratic Pakistan. He called on all citizens to unite and work towards realizing her dream of a just society where the rights of every individual are upheld, regardless of color, class, or creed.

“Today, we honor a leader who epitomized hope, resilience, and unwavering dedication to democracy and justice,” said President Zardari. He highlighted Benazir Bhutto’s commitment to ensuring equal opportunities for women, access to education for every child, and justice as a right for all, not a privilege for a few.

Reaffirming his commitment to her ideals, Zardari vowed to carry forward her mission of building a better Pakistan that embodies her values of inclusivity, equity, and progress.
