The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has started the re-registration of VPN service providers. Under a new system, providers must secure class licenses, which will cost between Rs 100,000 to Rs 300,000. This move is aimed at regulating VPN services and improving monitoring across the country. VPN providers will also need to set up data centers in Pakistan and follow local data protection laws. PTA will have access to user data to ensure compliance and enhance cybersecurity. The Pakistan Software Houses Association supported this initiative.
