Abhi Private Limited, a rising fintech firm operating in the Middle East and Pakistan, has joined forces with tech conglomerate TPL Corp. Limited to acquire FINCA Microfinance Bank Limited. This significant acquisition, announced on Tuesday, is expected to strengthen the financial landscape in Pakistan and broaden access to essential financial services across underserved regions.

FINCA Pakistan, part of the larger global FINCA network, serves communities in 108 cities across the country, offering innovative deposit and payment solutions, alongside micro-credit services aimed at improving livelihoods for individuals and small businesses. Abhi, having established its global headquarters in Abu Dhabi in January 2024, has already made inroads in Dubai and Saudi Arabia and continues to expand its footprint in the region.

According to Abhi’s statement, the acquisition brings together Abhi’s advanced digital solutions and TPL Corp’s established presence in retail, insurance, and technology with FINCA’s extensive microfinance expertise. This powerful alliance aims to broaden access to financial services, targeting underserved populations, small businesses, and low-income individuals.

“This strategic partnership is about more than just expanding our customer base,” Abhi’s CEO and Co-founder, Omair Ansari, stated. “It’s about reaching millions of Pakistanis who previously had limited access to essential financial services.”

The acquisition is set to combine TPL’s diverse business portfolio and FINCA Pakistan’s well-established presence, making the merged entity ideally suited to deliver customer-centered solutions that meet the needs of underserved regions. As Jeff Smith, Chair of the FINCA Pakistan Board of Directors, explained, “FINCA’s nationwide microfinance network has created economic opportunities, especially for women. This new capital infusion, combined with enhanced digital services, could significantly accelerate financial inclusion in Pakistan.”

The partnership also brings an emphasis on sustainable economic growth through new products tailored to underserved communities. Together, Abhi, TPL, and FINCA envision a future where financial inclusion drives social and economic development across Pakistan.
