Pakistani-American Ali Sheikhani has won a landmark victory in Fort Bend County, Houston, Texas, securing the role of constable in Precinct 3. His win came after a hard-fought race, defeating fellow Pakistani-American police officer and Democratic rival, Nabil Shike.
Out of 76,477 votes cast in the precinct, Republican Sheikhani received 39,936 votes (52.22%), while Shike garnered 36,541 votes (47.78%).
Two key factors helped Sheikhani’s campaign. First, he led an energetic and inclusive outreach to the community. Additionally, Democratic county commissioner candidate Taral Patel, facing allegations, remained in the race, creating a ripple effect that may have influenced voter sentiment in Sheikhani’s favor. Republican Andy Meyers retained the commissioner seat with 44,271 votes against Patel’s 30,927 votes, further shifting dynamics in the precinct.
In his victory message, Constable-elect Sheikhani expressed deep gratitude for the support of friends, family, and volunteers. “This win is for all of us! Thank you for believing in me and standing by my side every step of the way,” he said. He promised to serve with integrity, dedication, and a commitment to positive change, emphasizing key priorities like:

- Enhancing school safety with patrol officers in school zones
Speaking to Geo News, Sheikhani reiterated his dedication to community safety and his intent to transcend party lines in fulfilling his role.
In the United States, the position of constable functions as an independent law enforcement entity responsible for enforcing criminal and civil laws, arresting suspects, conducting investigations, serving legal documents, and assisting with polling station duties on election days.
Meanwhile, Democratic candidate Shike is preparing for another run in the upcoming year after recently graduating as a lawyer. His oath of office will be administered by Rabeea Collier, another prominent Pakistani-American figure in the legal field.
