KARACHI, Sep 13: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah met with Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb at the CM House to discuss the national economy and efforts to strengthen it further. Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, Federal Finance Secretary Imdadullah Bosal, PSCM Agha Wasif, and Provincial Finance Secretary Fayaz Jatoi attended the meeting.

During the discussion, CM Murad shared that the Sindh Revenue Board has been tasked with a Rs 350 billion collection target for the current financial year. He also mentioned efforts to enhance the collection of agricultural taxes. In response, the finance minister highlighted that significant steps have been taken to stabilize the national economy, with inflation now reduced to single digits.

The CM raised concerns about delays in funds for federally funded projects (PSDP) in Sindh, including the Jamshoro-Sehwan road project, which has been slowed despite Sindh contributing Rs 7 billion. He also addressed the need for the dualization of the Mehran Highway. The finance minister assured that these projects would be prioritized.

Both parties agreed on the importance of collaboration between federal and provincial governments to promote industrialization, boost agriculture, and attract investment to strengthen the national economy. The Sindh government’s Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects, such as the Thar Coal Mining project, Malir Expressway, and the Ghotki-Kandhkot bridge, were praised during the meeting.
