The Philanthropist and humanitarian Bilquis Edhi along with the UN reporter on human rights Prof Yanghee Lee and US ethicist Stephen Soldz have been respectively declared as ‘People of the Decade’ by an international organization. Bilquis Edhi here, was declared the most impactful person of the first two decades of the ongoing 21st century.
Heading the Bilquis Edhi Foundation, she is a professional nurse and has spent more than 6 decades serving humanity. Her practice of placing cradles (jhoolas) at the Edhi Homes has helped save more than 42,000 unwanted babies. Undoubtedly the Mother of Pakistan, she has been the recipient of any national and foreign awards including the Hilal e Imtiaz, the Lenin Peace Prize, Mother Teresa Memorial International Award for Social Justice (2015), and the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Public Service. The latter she received together with her late husband and humanitarian Abdul Sattar Edhi in 1986.
Another honor that this contest brought back home was that the Pakistani discoverer Prof. Aurangzeb Al Hafi was declared amongst the ‘Top of the top ten’ as a result of his scientific discoveries. He was placed sixth in the list of the most impactful people of the world.
The three scientific discoveries that the Impact Hallmarks shortlisted were his IRT Model of Terato-kinetics, the first-ever scientific demonstration of Magneto-Hydro-Tropism (MHT) and the methodological baselines engrossed annotation broadsheet in view of Covid-19 – also the first in the league. The latter was made available to the World Health Organization on the 3rd of March 2020 for further academic considerations.
