Sonia Shamroz Khan, a Battagram District Police Officer and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), has received international recognition for her achievements after being named ‘Officer of the Year’ by the International Association of Women Police (IAWP) in Auckland, New Zealand.

Khan was recognised for her outstanding achievements in law enforcement, innovative policing techniques, and consistent commitment to combating violence against women throughout her career.

The female cop previously served as DPO Chitral, where she was notable for establishing a complaint cell to register complaints against forced marriages, as she played a crucial role in combating such concerns.

While speaking to the media, Khan dedicated her honor to the victims of gender discrimination and the diligent female police officers who fulfill their responsibilities despite all challenges. She emphasised that female police officers have been working hard to maintain peace and security.

The officer stated that she had always taken cultural norms and sensitivities into account when working, which aided in the reporting of crimes against women.
