Any attempt to sabotage CPEC will not succeed: China
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterLinkedinWhatsapp

While strongly denouncing the terrorist attack on Chinese engineers in Gwadar, a Chinese foreign ministry official stated Monday that any attempt to undermine China-Pakistan friendship and the development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will fail.

“China will continue to work with the Pakistani side to jointly guard against and counter-terrorism threats, as well as earnestly protect the safety of Chinese personnel, institutions, and projects in Pakistan,” Wang Wenbin said during his regular briefing, which resumed here at the International Press Centre (IPC) following the summer holidays.

He made it clear that any attempt to undermine the friendship between China and Pakistan, as well as the development of CPEC, will fail.

He described the incident in detail, saying that on August 13, a convoy of Chinese engineers was ambushed by roadside bombs and bullets. There were no fatalities or injuries among Chinese citizens.

Wang Wenbin stated that the Chinese government strongly condemned the terrorist attacks and urged Pakistan to hold the criminals accountable.

He stated that the Chinese Embassy and Consulate in Pakistan have immediately initiated emergency response measures and reminded Chinese citizens, companies, and institutions working on projects in Pakistan to remain vigilant and take measures to strengthen security, closely monitor the security situation, guard against security risks, and keep them safe.

According to the spokesman, China would continue to work with Pakistan to jointly guard against counter-terrorism threats, as well as to protect the safety of Chinese workers, institutions, and projects in Pakistan.
