On Wednesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that providing facilities to the business community and resolving their difficulties were among the government’s top priorities.
The prime minister lauded the contributions of traders in addressing the country’s economic issues during a meeting with a delegation of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) led by its President Tariq Yousaf and Chief Executive Officer of Trade Development Authority Zubair Motiwala, according to a press release from the PM Office Media Wing.
The prime minister insisted that the current government had taken steps to create a business-friendly atmosphere in the country, including establishing a project to generate 10,000MW of solar electricity, in which foreign investors were expressing strong interest.
He also applauded the recommendations for equal electricity and gas distribution.
He claimed that the establishment of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) would ensure massive international investment. During the discussion, the prime minister directed the State Bank and the Federal Board of Revenue to work together to tackle the difficulties of the business community. He promised that the government would give electricity to Karachi traders at comparable rates.
On the occasion, Zubair Motiwala, Chief Executive of the Trade Development Authority and traders’ leader, presented recommendations for resolving the business community’s difficulties and congratulated the prime minister for resolving their issues.
Sindh Governor Kamran Tissori and Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah attended the meeting, as did federal ministers Syed Naveed Qamar, Syed Ameenul Haque, Ahsan Iqbal, Eng. Khurram Dastagir Khan, and Musadiq Malik, special assistants Tariq Bajwa, Tariq Pasha, and Jahanzaib Khan, State Bank governor, FBR chairman, and other relevant authorities.
