Punjab’s Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has clarified that the government has not yet decided to place Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan under house arrest. The PTI party has been facing repercussions from the authorities after their enraged workers attacked military installations, including the Lahore Corps Commanders House and the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, following Khan’s arrest in a corruption case on May 9, which was labeled by the army as a “Black Day.”

During a press conference in Lahore, the interim chief minister addressed the reports suggesting that Khan’s residence in Zaman Park, Lahore, might be declared a sub-jail for the purpose of house arrest. However, Naqvi clarified that no decision has been made regarding this matter.

The aftermath of the May 9 violence has led to the arrest of numerous workers, including women. The PTI has alleged mistreatment of their female supporters in prisons. In response, Imran Khan urged the judiciary to intervene in the reported mistreatment and called for the Supreme Court to take suo motu notice of the situation.

The situation remains in flux as the government considers its options, and the PTI continues to advocate for the fair treatment of their arrested workers, particularly the female detainees.
