Attack on GHQ included in Indian goals: Khawaja Asif
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterLinkedinWhatsapp

Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif has stated that the attack on General Headquarters (GHQ) during the violent protests on May 9 was part of India’s larger anti-Pakistan objectives. Speaking at a rally in Sialkot, Asif expressed his deep concern for the families and heirs of the martyred individuals who lost their lives during the protests.

He condemned the attackers, specifically pointing out Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, whom he believed orchestrated the attack for personal gain and power.

Asif further emphasized the significance of the sacred monuments that were vandalized during the protests. He expressed his doubts about the intentions of those who led the attacks on May 9, without explicitly naming anyone. While he never doubted anyone’s loyalty, he stressed the need to question the motives behind such destructive actions.

In a show of respect and remembrance, the minister visited the Yadgar-e-Shuhada (martyrs’ monument) in Chawinda. He laid a floral wreath on the graves of the fallen soldiers and offered Fatiha, paying tribute to their bravery in defending the country.

Asif also criticized certain political leaders who, in the current situation, were targeting the armed forces of Pakistan. He accused them of involving external elements in their attempts to undermine and harm the armed forces. He urged the people to express their genuine love and support for the army while disregarding the negative impression created by the events of May 9.

Praising the resilience and strength of the Pakistan Army, Asif highlighted how they continue to stand firm like a mountain, with brave soldiers sacrificing their lives for the nation. He stressed the importance of expressing solidarity and unity as a nation to honor the sacrifices made by the Pakistani forces.

Asif added that there were certain individuals who desired to come into power once again, hinting at their ulterior motives. He urged the people to remain vigilant and aware of such individuals’ intentions.
