Al-Qadir Trust case hearing: IHC grants 2-week bail to Imran Khan

In the Al-Qadir Trust case, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday granted release to former prime minister Imran Khan, a day after the Supreme Court deemed his incarceration “illegal.”

Imran Khan’s bail was approved for two weeks by a two-person special division bench made up of Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Saman Imtiaz, who presided over the hearing.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was also given notice by the IHC and instructed to provide a response at the subsequent hearing.

Prior to it, under heavy security, the PTI leader appeared before the Islamabad High Court in relation to the Al-Qadir Trust issue.

Imran Khan’s attorneys submitted four new arguments, asking the court to combine all of the charges brought against Imran. Additionally, the petitioner sought the court to order the authorities to provide information on the cases brought against the PTI chairman.

In the capital, extraordinary security measures were put in place for Imran Khan’s appearance before the high court. Outside the IHC, there are police and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel on duty.

A large number of police and Rangers officials have been positioned under the Faizabad Bridge, the Srinagar Highway, and the Police Lines, while containers have been placed close to the police lines on the Srinagar Highway.

The PTI, on the other hand, said that “peaceful” supporters would assemble at the Srinagar Highway in Islamabad’s G-13 to show support for the former prime. Imran would deliver a speech following his court appearance, the party added.

On Thursday, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah announced that Imran would be detained once more.

Sanaullah said on private television that if the High Court grants bail to Khan, “we will wait for the cancellation of bail and then arrest him again.”
