General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, is now in China on a four-day official visit, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

“The COAS is on a four-day official visit to China to strengthen bilateral military relations,” the military’s media wing said, without elaborating.

This is Gen Munir’s fourth international trip since taking charge of the Pakistan Army. In his first abroad trip as army chief, Gen Munir visited Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in January.

During his visit to Saudi Arabia, the COAS met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman and “reviewed bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them.”

Gen Munir later visited the UAE, where he met President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and reviewed defence and military cooperation.

During the meeting, the two also discussed ways to boost military affairs in order to serve the common interests of friendly countries, according to the state news agency.

A month later, Gen Munir travelled to the United Kingdom on a highly important visit at the invitation of the British Ministry of Defence to discuss security-related strategic matters.

Following his tour to the United Kingdom, Gen Munir returned to the UAE and met with the president.
