The five-judge bench of the Supreme Court (SC) hearing a plea challenging the postponement of elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday was dissolved after Justice Aminuddin excused himself from the hearing.

At the start of the hearing, CJP Justice Umar Ata Bandial asked if Justice Aminuddin wanted to say anything.

n his remarks, Justice Aminuddin said he could not hear the case after yesterday’s decision by a three-judge bench headed by Justice Qazi Faez Isa. After the statement of the honorable judge, the other four members of the panel left the courtroom and the bench was dissolved.

A three-judge bench of the Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered the adjournment of hearing cases of constitutional importance and Suo motu notices.

A three-judge bench passed the order in the Hafiz-e-Quran pardon case. The nine-page decision was written by Justice Qazi Faiz Isa, while Justice Shahid Waheed dissented from the decision.

It may be noted that the five-judge bench heard PTI’s plea against the postponement of the Punjab elections by the Election Commission of Pakistan.

In a hearing yesterday, the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) sought assurances from the federal government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in the case of postponing the elections.

Elaborating, Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial said that it is unfortunate that all the respondents are in confrontation with each other. The federal government and PTI must assure that they want transparent elections or not.

Punjab Assembly and KPK Sibtain Khan and Mushtaq Ghani filed a joint constitutional petition on behalf of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf.

The decision of the ECP

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced the postponement of the Punjab by-elections, which were scheduled to be held on 30 are postponed by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The ECP has withdrawn the Punjab election schedule notification issued on March 8 and decided to postpone the Punjab elections and announced October 8 as the new date for the Punjab elections.
