Imran Khan announces Minar-e-Pakistan power show on March 22

On Sunday, Imran Khan, the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), once again declared that he would hold a power show at Minar-e-Pakistan on Wednesday, March 22, following the chaotic events that occurred the day before.

These events included clashes between the police and PTI supporters at Khan’s Zaman Park residence and the Islamabad Judicial Complex, where he appeared before a trial court for the Toshakhana case.

It is worth mentioning that the former ruling party had planned to hold a public rally at Minar-e-Pakistan on March 19, but the Lahore High Court had prohibited PTI from doing so on Thursday.

The day before, Khan had returned to Lahore from Islamabad after his non-bailable arrest warrants were canceled by Additional Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal in the Toshakhana case. The judge adjourned the hearing until March 30 and ordered Khan to ensure his presence.

Since his ousting in a no-confidence motion last year, Khan has been embroiled in several court cases, pressuring the coalition government that replaced him to hold early elections.

He recalled the incidents that have taken place since his announcement of kick-starting the election campaign on March 8, questioning how authorities could impose Section 144, which banned pillion-riding and the gathering of five or more people, after the announcement of the election date.
