PM Shehbaz Sharif went to Karachi for a day to take part in a multinational naval exercise that Pakistan is organizing in the Arabian Sea.

The multinational naval drills, which are being organized by the Pakistan Navy, are being participated in by naval forces from 50 nations, including Turkey, the US, and China.

The fundamental goal of these biannual exercises is to create a successful unified strategy against terrorists, pirates, and smugglers of drugs and arms. The event will be explained to the premier.

The ceremony, which has been going on since 2007, started with the raising of the flag. Along with African Union nations, regional nations like Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia are participating in the event with ships, aircraft, marine teams, special operations forces, and observers.

The Type 052D guided-missile destroyer Nanning of the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) is participating in the training, according to the Chinese Ministry of Defense.

According to a statement from the Pakistan Navy, the naval exercise, which was organised under the theme “Together for Peace,” aims to provide a forum for understanding maritime concepts and operational cultures, improve interoperability, and identify ways and means to combat common maritime threats.

The ninth edition, it was added, is broken up into two parts: the harbour and the sea. Seminars, operational debates, professional demonstrations, an international gathering, and pre-sail sea evolution planning are all part of the harbour phase.

The sea phase includes tactical manoeuvres, maritime security exercises such as anti-piracy and counter-terrorism, search and rescue, gunnery firings, and air defence exercises.
