On Sunday, Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, strongly condemned the far-right Danish politician’s desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden.

No words are enough to adequately condemn the abhorrable act of desecration of the Holy Quran by a right-wing extremist in Sweden. The garb of the freedom of expression cannot be used to hurt the religious emotions of 1.5 billion Muslims across the world. This is unacceptable.

Rasmus Paludan, the leader of the Danish group Stram Kurs (Hard Line), set fire to the Holy Quran in front of the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm.

Several Muslim nations have condemned the terrible conduct, including Pakistan, Turkey, Jordan, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia.

The Pakistani prime minister, Shehbaz Sharif, denounced the offensive behavior on Twitter, stating that “the garb of freedom of expression can’t be utilized to damage the sensibilities of Muslims.”

Prior to this, Pakistan’s Foreign Office also condemned the action, highlighting how it wounded the feelings of the world’s 1.5 billion Muslims.

The ministry asserted that such actions are not protected by any appropriate exercise of the right to freedom of expression or of opinion, which is subject to obligations under international human rights law, including the prohibition against using hate speech and inciting others to violence.
