Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday granted bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Senator Azam Swati, in a controversial tweet case.

According to details IHC approved the PTI senator Azam Swati’s post-arrest bail and ordered to release of him against surety bonds of Rs200,000.

Azam Swati, senator for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), requested bail, and the court delayed the decision.

Chief justice Amir Farooq heard the bail petition filed by the PTI senator in a controversial tweet case.

Azam Swati’s counsel, Babar Awan, informed the court that while he will not name him, one political figure is out on bail for medical reasons, and another political party leader has got bail so that they can visit the other.

The chief justice asked as to the FIA’s remarks on the matter. The FIA lawyer then requested that the court delay the hearing since the special prosecutor was not able to attend.

IHC Reserves Verdict on Azam Swati’s Bail Plea

The court rejected the request and reserved the verdict in the controversial case.

It is important to note that on November 27 the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested Senator Azam Swati of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in connection with a case involving contentious tweets against state institutions.

Three FIA teams arrested the PTI leader at his farmhouse in Islamabad’s Chak Shahzad area. Against the PTI lawmaker, a new lawsuit has been filed. The PTI leader’s detention has been confirmed by the FIA Cybercrime Wing.
