The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday extended the interim bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan in a case filed against him after demonstrations were held following his disqualification by the ECP in the Toushakhana case.

The PTI chairman’s attorney, Babar Awan, informed the court that the former prime minister and PTI leader Imran Khan is in Lahore and could not come before the court. The hearing was resumed by anti-terrorism court (ATC) judge Raja Jawad Abbas Hasan.

The interim bail was extended till January 10 after the court approved the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman’s request for relief from personal appearance in the case.

A verdict on the pre-arrest bail request of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders in the matter of breaking section 144 has previously been reserved by an anti-terrorism court (ATC).

It is pertinent to mention here that several members of the local leadership of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) were booked in a terrorism case over alleged vandalism during the protests in Islamabad after ECP disqualified Imran Khan in Toshakhana reference.

Imran Khan, a former prime minister and the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, was disqualified by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in the Toshakhana reference according to Article 63(1)(p).
