Pakistan will effectively overcome the current flood crisis, according to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, with the help of the world community.

On Sunday, he made this statement while presiding over a critical review meeting via video link from London regarding the ongoing relief efforts in the flood-affected districts.

The Prime Minister recalled that during their discussions outside of the 77th UNGA session, world leaders had offered their regrets and sympathies for the devastation caused on by the floods in Pakistan and had pledged their sincere assistance for that country.

The crux of my speech at UNGA was to warn the world of what stares humanity in the face. The climate-induced calamity Pakistan is facing today will not stay in Pakistan if no urgent action is taken. Let global response not be guided by cameras but empathey & concern for humankind

— Shehbaz Sharif (@CMShehbaz) September 24, 2022

He also told the group about his meetings with influential world leaders, like as UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, during which he had told them about the flood crisis in Pakistan.

He added that the UN Secretary General had given him the assurance that a donors’ conference will be called soon to discuss the rehabilitation of Pakistan’s flood victims.

The meeting was also informed by the prime minister on his phone call with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He claimed that when he met with Bill Gates, they also spoke about the World Food Program providing assistance to flood-affected children.

The Prime Minister was also briefed by the officials of the National Flood Response Coordination Center regarding the rehabilitation works in the flood-affected areas across the country.
